Southern black women are highly vulnerable to HIV.

About Empowered Women

The EMPOWERED WOMEN initiative aims to engage women in successful HIV prevention efforts. By addressing a wide range of topics and issues, this initiative aims to create a comprehensive hub of information and support.

The initiative is informed by the voices of black southern women, particularly those living in Louisiana, and includes unique features such as incentivized HIV prevention and policy education, connection to resources, and access to a community of other EMPOWERED WOMEN.

The content includes HIV prevention education & articles, asccess to HIV prevention resources and clinicians, voter registration and policy information, and more.

Our mission is to address the underrepresentation of black women in successful HIV prevention efforts and to provide them with accessible resources, education, and support.

Our Mission

Our vision is to create a future where black women in Louisiana are empowered, informed, and free from the threat of HIV.
